Toilets Leaking in Chester County, PA

|

When a toilet develops a leak, it can result in significant damage to your bathroom walls that can result in extensive and costly repairs. A small accumulation of water at the point where your toilet meets the floor likely means there is a bad seal between the area where waste exits and the drain line, otherwise known as the toilet horn. Eventually, this can rot your framing as well as your floor.

This problem is typically solved by placing a new wax ring in the area directly underneath the toilet. You can perform this type of repair yourself as long as you have some help. A toilet can be extremely bulky and heavy, so you’ll want to have someone with you to help you lift it once you disconnect the water supply and remove the mounting bolts. Once you make the replacement and reconnect the toilet, flush to see if any water escapes. If it does, call a plumber.
