Newtown Square Plumber Repairs Shower Problems

|

A shower head is usually one of those parts of your house you never have to think about, providing the water you need time after time after time. This is a very easy part to take for granted – until it doesn’t work. Then, that reliable part becomes a huge nuisance.

Water runs through your Newtown Square home at an average of between 60 and 80 pounds per square inch or PSI. This water moves through pipes as small as one inch in diameter, and this sustained pressure helps water flow uphill into your home.

Signs of Shower Problems in Newton Square

The pipes in your shower can be extremely small, creating even more pressure on your shower head. Limescale, rust, or other materials caught in that shower head can have a big impact on how much water flows out of it. Whether you have a regular flow or “low flow” shower, the shower head should be able to deliver a strong flow of water at all times. If yours is not delivering that strong flow, then you may have a problem with your main water line or low volume from your water heater. However, if you have ruled out that problem, then you may have a problem with limescale buildup and you will need to disassemble the shower head and clean it. On some low-flow models, there is a restrictor built into the apparatus that could also be the problem. You can, on some models remove the restrictor disks or reverse them and still get the benefits of the low-flow model.

In addition, you could be having problems with the arm of the shower head. Water passing through that arm can slowly wear it down or even erode it. When a shower arm becomes brittle, it can easily snap when you adjust the shower head handle. This can create an incredibly troubling problem when that pipe breaks off inside your wall and water starts spraying everywhere. And if that water is spewing inside your shower wall, that can pose an even bigger problem.

How our Plumbers Fix Shower Head Problems

If your shower head is clogged, again, you can more than likely fix the problem yourself by disassembling it and using a cleanser.
