Experienced plumber should look at pipes before purchasing a home
The average home inspector doesn’t have the knowledge or expertise to take a thorough look at plumbing. If you are thinking of purchasing a house, you should make sure that a licensed, experienced plumber performs a detailed inspection of not only your pipes, but also your water heater to make sure that you won’t have issues after you buy your home.
- A plumber will usually look closely at the traps under your sinks, make sure that all of the shut-off valves are working correctly, and closely inspect all exposed plumbing in the house.
- If the home has a basement, the plumber will thoroughly inspect the drainage system and make sure the sump pump is working properly. He’ll look in the sump pit to make sure there are no clogs.
- The plumber will also check the hot water heater tank and make sure there is no corrosion. If the tank is damaged to the point that it leaks, the system will need to be replaced.
