They say you learn something new every day, and today it’s this: Roughly 95% of basements, crawl spaces, or homes will experience flooding. Even if you don’t live in an area where floods are at high risk, isn’t it better to be prepared?

At Feehan Plumbing, Heating, & Cooling, we think so! That’s why we’ve dedicated our time to learning all there is to know about sump pumps to help you keep your home dry.

Our team has training in installation, repair, and maintenance so if you ever need anything – even in the middle of the night duringSpri a thunderstorm – we’ll be there.

Sump Pump Installation

Being proactive is always better than being reactive, especially when it comes to flooding. It’s much easier to have a sump pump installed than to restore what gallons of water damage has done to your home. So if you don’t have one already, now’s the time.

There are two main types of sump pumps you can install: submersible and pedestal.

  • Submersible: As the name suggests, submersible pumps sit in the pit below the basement. This frees up some space for furniture or other fixtures around the room. Submersible pumps are quiet and are typically more powerful and can pump out water faster than pedestal ones.
  • Pedestal: Less pricey than submersible, pedestal pumps are air-cooled and last about three times as long. They don’t have as much power, but if you are using them just as a precautionary measure, it might be just what you need!

Feehan Plumbing experts will be there every step of the way to help you choose the one that would best fit your home’s needs. Call us today!

Sump Pump Maintenance

The last thing you want is to have sump pump failure in the middle of a storm. Regular maintenance is the best way to prevent that from happening, At Feehan Plumbing, we will come out to your home and perform this maintenance for you. During our visit, we will:

  • Test and clean your system: We will check the float switch, the intake valve, and the impeller for any possible problems and clean them so they continue to function as they should. Then we will also clean the sump pump liner of any sediment.
  • Check the discharge line: We don’t want there to be any blockages in the line, so we will check and make sure everything is flowing freely.
  • Suggest upgrades: If our technicians see any problems that could arise in the future, they will inform you and make suggestions for either repair or replacement.

Sump Pump Repair

At Feehan Plumbing, we can repair almost any sump pump problem you are experiencing, including:

  • Stuck float switch: If the switch is stuck in the “on” position, the pump can’t turn itself off, eventually burning the motor out.
  • Failed impeller: When the impeller breaks, water cannot be pumped out and will just continue to accumulate, ultimately flooding your space.
  • Improperly sized pump: One that is too small for your needs will have to work harder to pump out the water. This becomes too much for the pump, and will need replacing. We can offer suggestions!

Trust the experts at Feehan Plumbing, Heating & Cooling to take care of your sump pump needs. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we’ll be there for you. Give us a call today!
