Toilet Keeps Running in Delaware County, PA

|

If you are experiencing this type of annoying problem, you can probably take care of the problem yourself if you take a few minutes to find out the cause. Take off the toilet tank, flush it, and see what happens afterward.

Here are some of the things to be on the lookout for:

  • The flush valve may be sticking if the water keeps running until you jiggle the handle. It is probably happening because you have some sort of problem between the handle and the tank ball, or flapper valve.
  • The flapper valve is sticking if it doesn’t completely cover the drain hole once you flush the toilet.
  • If your tank has a damaged float ball, or if this part is not adjusted properly, then water will continue to run. It will run out of the overflow tube, into the bowl, and then it will finally go down the drain.

This kind of issue can waste a great deal of water and result in substantially higher utility bills. If you are unable to fix the problem yourself, call Feehan Plumbing & Heating as soon as you can.
